“The use of contraception to run away from self-mastery inevitably leads to the loss of consciousness of sin. It leads to the profound ignorance that causes someone to say “as long as I’m basically a good person I don’t need to go to Mass.”

Especially when there is a strong social pressure like : “everybody is doing that, so maybe its ok”, this post has become a reminder for me.

I think, though, all too often, we are quick to point out that men don't want to look in the mirror. While I agree with your point on that, I meet more and more women who push their men into vasectomies and/or insist on using contraception because THEY don't want to look in the mirror either and see that perhaps their own selfishness is at the root of their desire to cease childbearing (i.e., they think it would be too hard to add a/another child). But of course, as I am a woman, I would see and perhaps be more likely to comment on such. I plan to follow...I enjoy reading anything on Humanae Vitae and any Theology of the Body stuff.
